Quick hits from Nick Caserio

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Quick hits from Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio:

No change with Waters. Caserio said there has been no change on the status of offensive lineman Brian Waters, who is on the reserve/did not report list. "No updates there," he said.

Background with Waldron helped. The Patriots claimed rookie offensive lineman Dustin Waldron (Portland State) on waivers from the Dolphins, and Caserio pointed out how line coach Dante Scarencchia had traveled to work him out before the draft. "Having done the workout and having spent some time [with him] ... what we've found in the past is that those players we at least have some degree of [prior] contact or some relationship with, you start with them first and work your way down."

Roster now at 90. Caserio noted that the Patriots now have a full 90-man roster.

Dowling and his size. At 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, Ras-I Dowling offers the Patriots something others on the roster don't -- size. "I think if you look at the league, there are a lot of bigger corners out there playing who are long, with length -- [Antonio] Cromartie. Sean Smith down in Miami -- 6-3, 6-4. So part of that is that you're playing against bigger receivers, so there is a size element that comes into play," Caserio said.
