Catching up with former Patriots

Some links catching up with former Patriots who are now with new teams:

1. Compelling TV with Chad Johnson & Hard Knocks. HBO's "Hard Knocks" didn't disappoint on Tuesday night, with scenes from coach Joe Philbin cutting Chad Johnson after his arrest for domestic violence. It was compelling television. But as Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post notes, the "the far more interesting insight came earlier in the show when it was revealed that Johnson was having a hard time picking up the Dolphins’ offense, just like he did last year in New England."

2. Underwood recalls Super cut. Receiver Tiquan Underwood, who was cut the night before the Super Bowl, is making a case to stick with the Buccaneers. The Associated Press writes on Underwood's strong performance in the Buccaneers' preseason opener, leading off the piece with Underwood's pre-Super Bowl experience. Underwood has no hard feelings. "Going up there changed my career," Underwood said. "The way they run their organization, I learned how to be a professional."

3. Sore foot for Green-Ellis. After rushing seven times for 22 yards in addition to catching an 18-yard pass in the Bengals' preseason opener, running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis is being held out of practice this week with a sore foot. Kevin Kelly of the Cincinnati Enquirer writes that coach Marvin Lewis doesn't think the injury will keep Green-Ellis out long.
