Will Tom Brady and the first-string offense play in tonight's preseason finale against the Giants? Bill Belichick isn't tipping his hand, but ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss has a hunch.
“The reason (Brady) played in last year’s (preseason) finale was that Bill Belichick wasn’t happy with the offensive performance leading into that game," Reiss said on SportsCenter (video above). "The same is true this year, so you could see that scenario unfolding tonight, but there is one other factor to keep in mind.
"Brady has played 69 offensive snaps this preseason. They've had plenty of work and there has been some shaky play on that offensive line. So you weight the reward against the risk (of Brady getting injured).
“My belief is that as of yesterday the Patriots’ thinking was that the risk might be too great here and that the plan -- and it could always change -- was to maybe have Brady sit this one out."
