Report: Britt suspended for Pats game

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt will be unavailable to play against the Patriots in the regular-season opener, as Jim Wyatt of The Tennesseean is reporting that he will be suspended for one game after being arrested and charged with a DWI this offseason.

The 23-year-old Britt was recently activated from the PUP list, as he is recovering from a major knee injury suffered last September that cost him much of his 2011 season. It was unclear based on his health how much Britt would be able to play against New England, although it seemed likely that he would be able to assume at least a minimal role.

Britt was arrested and charged on a count of DWI on July 20, after being pulled over early that morning in Fort Campbell, Ky. He has previously been arrested during his career, although he has not served a suspension as a result of his legal matters.

He is considered an explosive vertical threat, with career-highs of 775 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns during the 2010 season.

The Patriots will travel to Tennessee for the opener next Sunday, Sept. 9.
