In a piece now posted on ESPNBoston.com, Mike Reiss writes on veteran offensive lineman Brian Waters, who as of Sunday afternoon had yet to report to the team.
The Patriots have left the door open for Waters, who had a "great year" in 2011, according to Bill Belichick. Meanwhile, Waters has strong ties to his home in Texas and there is considerable personal sacrifice from packing up and coming to New England for a five-month stretch.
It is a situation described as "fluid", but one thing is certain: If the Patriots were counting on Waters for the Sept. 9 season opener, time is running out.
