Deaderick (ankle) not spotted at practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots defensive tackle Brandon Deaderick, who was added to Thursday's injury report as limited with an ankle injury, was not spotted at practice on Friday.

Defensive lineman Justin Francis (ankle) and tight end Aaron Hernandez (ankle) were also not spotted at the workout, which was held in shells (light shoulder pads).

Deaderick had been a reserve option for the first two games of the season. If he is unable to play on Sunday night, it could allow defensive tackle Marcus Forston, an undrafted rookie from Miami, to dress for the first time this season.

Hernandez, meanwhile, was in the locker room for several minutes during the availability period for reporters on Friday. Jokingly telling cameras and reporters to turn away, Hernandez limped around barefoot, his right ankle clearly swollen.

While he didn't use it, Hernandez had a small four-wheeled cart at his locker. Later, a trainer helped him put on a protective boot over his lower right leg.
