Jones moves up spot in 'Rookie Watch'

Each week, Matt Williamson of ESPN's Scouts Inc. monitors the contributions of rookies across the NFL in his "Rookie Watch" feature. Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones has been a consistent presence, and this week he moves up one spot from No. 6 to No. 5.

"Not just a terrorizing pass-rusher, Jones also helped contain Marshawn Lynch to his worst rushing performance of the year," Williamson writes. "Stats don't always tell the story, but Jones' line in Week 6 was excellent as he recorded four solo tackles, two sacks, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble, which came on one of his sacks of Russell Wilson. In terms of defensive rookies, there really is no one close to Jones right now."

The closest to Jones, in Williamson's view this week, is Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner (2nd round, Utah State). The other eight rookies in Williamson's top 10 are all offensive players.

In a related note, our cousins at ESPNNewYork.com noted that Jones was also a prospect of interest for the Jets, who instead took Quinton Coples (link here).
