FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Rookie linebacker Dont'a Hightower, who has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, went through on-field tests that indicate he is a game-time decision for today's contest against the Jets.
Hightower, the team's starter on the strong side, worked out for athletic trainers Harold Nash and Moses Cabrera. Hightower (6-3, 270) is a strong player against the run and that figures to be a top area of focus today against the ground-and-pound Jets.
In his absence last week, the Patriots moved left end Rob Ninkovich to Hightower's linebacker spot and inserted Jermaine Cunningham at end in their base defense.
In addition to Hightower, reserve defensive lineman Ron Brace (back injury) also went through drills with members of the athletic training staff that indicate he is also a game-time decision.
Inactives must be declared 90 minutes before kickoff.
