RBs don't beat around the Bush

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Running backs Shane Vereen and Danny Woodhead were among five Patriots to earn practice player of the week honors for the team's Week 13 win over the Dolphins.

Leading up to the game, head coach Bill Belichick referenced the dangerous threat running back Reggie Bush posed to an opposing defense, and it's likely that both Vereen and Woodhead were tabbed to simulate the talented Dolphins back in practice. The Patriots held Bush to just 64 yards from scrimmage in the 23-16 win.

It's the second time Vereen has earned the practice honor in 2012, and first for Woodhead. Meanwhile, quarterback Ryan Mallett earned his third practice honor this season, which could be viewed as a positive sign in his development.

The practice players of the week are those deemed to have best prepared the team in the days leading up to a victory.
