Brady out, 18 limited at practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (right shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday, according to the team's injury report.

Brady threw a career-high 65 passes in Sunday night's game against the San Francisco 49ers, so his absence at Wednesday's practice could be a case of the team giving him rest. Brady was spotted in the locker room later Wednesday.

The Patriots also listed 18 players as limited, including tight end Rob Gronkowski (forearm/hip).

Linebacker Jerod Mayo (elbow) was limited, after being listed as a full participant since Nov. 14. Rookie linebacker Dont'a Hightower, who has been limited with a hamstring injury, was limited on Wednesday with hamstring and shoulder injuries.

With Brandon Spikes also listed as limited with knee and ankle injuries, the Patriots had all three starters at linebacker limited at Wednesday's practice. Mike Rivera did not practice (ankle) and Tracy White (elbow) was limited, so Niko Koutouvides was the only linebacker not on the injury report.

Rookie cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who left Sunday night's game in the second quarter with a knee injury and did not return, was also limited Wednesday and is still also listed with a hamstring injury.

Cornerback Kyle Arrington (knee) and defensive lineman Ron Brace (elbow) were removed from the injury report. Safety Patrick Chung had his hamstring injury removed, but is still listed with a shoulder injury.
