King's take on top 50 free agents

We're just hours away from the legal "tampering" window that precedes NFL free agency, and a flurry of activity could be on its way.

In advance of free agency, Sports Illustrated's Peter King has put together his list of the 50 best free agents, while also designating a "best fit" for each of them.

It was no surprise to see Sebastian Vollmer (14), Wes Welker (10) and Aqib Talib (3) land on the list, and King suggests that the best fit for both Talib and Welker is back in New England. He believes Vollmer would be an ideal fit for the Bears, whose protection issues in 2012 are hard to ignore.

King pegs New England as the best fit for three of his other top 50 free agents: safety Ed Reed (42), tight end James Casey (41), and defensive end Osi Umenyiora (19).

Reed has already been an extensive topic of speculation this offseason, while Casey brings unique versatility to the table as a tight end and fullback (he actually began his college career at Rice as a quarterback), and Umenyiora would help beef up the pass rush.
