Patriots coach Bill Belichick is serving as a guest speaker at the Notre Dame coaches clinic, and as part of his appearance, he met with reporters on Thursday night.
Belichick touched on his history scouting and drafting Notre Dame players.
"They're smart, they're tough, they're disciplined. ... They've certainly played on a big stage, played with a lot of pressure -- TV games, sellout crowds," Belichick said, according to the South Bend Tribune. "The expectations of the Notre Dame football program are extremely high. So when they go to the next level, that's not something that they're in awe of, because of what they've experienced here."
Receiver David Givens (2002, seventh round) was the most productive Notre Dame player drafted by the Patriots in Belichick's tenure. Of course, Belichick also had high praise for former Giants tight end Mark Bavaro, a Notre Dame alum.
