Highlighting Pats' staff changes

The Patriots released a digital version of their 2013 media guide on Friday, which includes information relating to staff changes, highlighted below. The media guide can be viewed online by clicking here:

1. Former Broncos pro scout Dave Ziegler has joined the Patriots as assistant director of pro scouting. Ziegler is a member of the John Carroll University Hall of Fame, and was hired by fellow John Carroll alum Josh McDaniels when he was head coach in Denver. Ziegler will work under Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio, who also played at John Carroll.

2. Another John Carroll graduate, Jerry Schuplinski, has joined the staff as a coaching assistant, as was previously reported in April.

3. Yet another John Carroll graduate, Frank Ross, who served as a scouting assistant in 2012, has left the organization to pursue coaching opportunities.

4. Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms, the son of former NFL quarterback Phil Simms, is no longer with the organization after spending 2012 as a scouting assistant.

5. Scouting assistant Mick Lombardi, the son of Cleveland Browns general manager Mike Lombardi, has joined the 49ers as an assistant to head coach Jim Harbaugh.

6. Scouting assistant Matt Groh, the son of former NFL coach Al Groh, has been promoted to area scout.

7. Area scout Frank Edgerly has joined the Browns as a senior pro scout.

8. Brian Daboll, who re-joined the coaching staff during the playoffs in January, will hold the title of offensive assistant this season. He was seen working closely with the offensive line during OTAs and minicamp.

9. Former Boston College wide receiver DuJuan Daniels, who had served as an area scout since 2008, has been promoted to regional scout.

10. Pat Stewart, who spent 2012 as a pro scout, is now an area scout.

11. Trey Brown, who served as an area scout in 2012, has left for a similar position with the Eagles.

12. Brandon Yeargan, who played linebacker at Davidson College, has been hired as a scouting assistant. Yeargan spent the 2012 season as a football operations assistant at North Carolina.

13. Jonathan Howard has also been hired as a scouting assistant. Howard graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2012, and was a volunteer coach there last summer before spending last season volunteering for UMass Amherst's football team.
