FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- With their depth at cornerback being recently tested due to injuries to both Ras-I Dowling and Alfonzo Dennard, the Patriots added another player at the position, signing free agent LeQuan Lewis on Monday. In a corresponding roster move, the team waived rookie tight end Brandon Ford.
Lewis, originally an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State in 2011, has been with six organizations previously, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012. He has career totals of five tackles and one interception in eight games played.
Ford, signed following the draft as an undrafted rookie out of Clemson, has not practiced recently due to an undisclosed injury. He did not play in the team's preseason opener against Philadelphia on Friday night.
