Leon Washington not at Pats practice

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Veteran running back Leon Washington was not spotted at Patriots practice on Sunday, as he was one of three players not on the field for a full-pad workout.

Washington was considered to be on the roster bubble, and his absence raises the question of his job security at a time when the Patriots still are making moves by claiming multiple players on waivers.

In addition to Washington, offensive lineman Will Svitek and cornerback Marquice Cole were the other players not spotted.

The big news of the day, as previously reported on ESPN.com, was the presence of tight end Rob Gronkowski for his first full-pad practice.

In other news, there were several practice-squad players on the field, including linebacker Jeff Tarpinian, cornerback Justin Green and defensive lineman Marcus Forston, all of whom had been with the team in training camp. The other players, which included jersey No. 49 (LB Ja'Gared Davis?) and No. 36, also appear to be practice-squad players.
