Spikes downgraded to questionable

Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes, who suffered a knee injury Monday night, was downgraded from probable to questionable to play in tonight's game.

That means his chances to play have decreased from 75 percent to 50 percent. Inactives are due to be announced 90 minutes before kickoff, so Spikes' status will be known by approximately 7 p.m. ET.

Spikes was a limited participant in practice each day this week. The Patriots would be without two of their starting linebackers from the beginning of the season if he does not suit up, as Jerod Mayo is already on injured reserve.

A top run-stuffing linebacker, Spikes leads the Patriots with 60 tackles this season. If he is forced to sit out, the Patriots' top reserve linebackers include rookie Jamie Collins and veteran Dane Fletcher, who played an increased defensive role this past Monday night against Carolina.
