Recapping news from NFL Countdown

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- There was plenty of news to digest on ESPN's "NFL Countdown" show this morning as it related to the Patriots and Broncos.

Paolantonio on role of John Fox: Sal Paolantonio reported on how recovering Broncos coach John Fox is still heavily involved in day-to-day operations. Fox still has a hand in game-planning and regularly is texting and calling players, including quarterback Peyton Manning. Fox talks to interim coach Jack Del Rio every day (sometimes 2 to 3 times) and also held a team meeting via Skype this past Monday.

Schefter on clock error by officials in Patriots-Panthers game: Adam Schefter reported on another gaffe by officials from last Monday's Patriots-Panthers game. After Ted Ginn's go-ahead touchdown, four additional seconds ticked off the clock that could have cost the Patriots an extra play, Schefter relayed.

Welker sits down with Bruschi: Former Patriots teammates Wes Welker and Tedy Bruschi sat down for a 1-on-1 interview (video here).

Garber's feature with former Patriots: Reporter Greg Garber catches up with former Patriots Ty Law, Drew Bledsoe and Damien Woody about the "Patriots Way" of letting veteran players go and replacing them with younger and cheaper talent. For some of the soundbites from that piece, click here.
