On Monday morning, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady joined the "Dennis & Callahan show" on WEEI sports radio in Boston, touching on a number of topics. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.
1. On his punt Sunday (a light-hearted response), which he said he practices each day in practice: "It wasn't a very good punt. It was a pretty crappy punt. The safety was pretty deep, [Jim] Leonhard, he's a punt returner. Somehow the ball found him and it wasn't a good punt. I wish I could do that one again."
2. On what he said to running back LeGarrette Blount when the two were shown sitting on the bench together late in Sunday's game: "It was a very joyful moment for both of us. He had played an incredible game and it's really been a great season for our team to get to this point. We've definitely got a group of overachievers, guys who have worked really hard to come in and play whatever role they've been asked to play."
3. On whether the Patriots will begin preparing for the Bengals, Colts and Chiefs this week, their three possible opponents for the divisional round: "Yeah, I think that's the smart thing to do. I think that you've got to try to do something. We're not just going to sit around and do nothing. You're going to try to put as much time as you can into any of the three teams. It'll definitely benefit us to start working on them, and whoever it is will be a team that certainly earned it. ... We'll get working, first of all on ourselves, and then as the week goes on we'll probably think a little bit more about who our next opponent will be."
4. On if Josh McDaniels, who is rumored to be a possible target for the Browns' head coaching vacancy, is a different coach in his second stint as the Patriots offensive coordinator: "Josh is the best offensive coach I could ever imagine. He's so prepared, he's so confident in what he does. He figures out a way each week to get us in the best position as players to win. I have so much respect for him and what he does for me, what he does for our team, he's just a great coach. He's got a lot of poise, he's got a lot of discipline. And I hope he doesn't go anywhere, I'd love for him to coach me the rest of my life. But that's just the way it is, he's one of my best friends and I love having him."
