Speaking on ESPN's "Mike & Mike" radio show Friday morning, NFL draft insider Todd McShay gave his take on some of Thursday night's draft picks, including the Patriots' choice of Dominique Easley at No. 29.
Similar to the reaction of ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss, McShay was surprised with the pick, noting big concerns over Easley's injury history.
"Great player when healthy, but two knee injuries, and a guy most teams had third-, fourth-round range just because of all the durability concerns," he said. "But, you go back and look at the track record with the Patriots drafting defensive linemen, it's all worked out really well, it's just a surprise with the decision to go with a player that high in the draft that has such durability concerns."
He noted that Easley's versatility was definitely a draw for Bill Belichick.
