Highlighting Patriots & local ties in CFL

Using Peter King’s “Monday Morning Quarterback” column on the Canadian Football League as a springboard, we combed the rosters of the nine CFL teams to identify players with Patriots and New England college football ties:

WR Chad Johnson -- Montreal Alouettes -- Played for the Patriots in 2011 as Chad Ochocinco, appearing in 15 games and totaling 15 receptions. Johnson made his preseason debut Friday night and his presence has generated some media-based buzz.

LB Deron Mayo -- Calgary Stampeders -- Brother of Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo.

DB Antwaun Molden -- Toronto Argonauts -- Played in 16 games with the Patriots in 2011, with two starts, after being claimed on waivers from the Texans. He’s on the Argonauts' practice roster.

DE Jason Vega -- Winnipeg Blue Bombers -- The Northeastern University alum from Brockton, Massachusetts, spent last offseason with the Patriots.
