Aqib Talib gearing up to face Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Cornerback Aqib Talib was one of the more colorful players to come through the New England Patriots in recent years, and he returns to town Sunday as a member of the Denver Broncos.

His thoughts on the Broncos-Patriots matchup?

Here are some soundbites from Talib from the Broncos' locker room Monday, as transcribed by Denver's media relations staff:

On how tough it is to play in Foxborough. "It’s a real good atmosphere. They play real well at home. It’s definitely hard to play there. They’ve got a great crowd. They’re going to be loud. They know when to be loud; they know when to get quiet. So it’s going to be a great atmosphere. It’s going to be a challenge."

On what made him a better player and person in New England. "Just the repetitions -- the experiences. [When you] get older, you grow. I had a great coach, Bill Belichick. Great coach. Playing against [quarterback] Tom [Brady], you learn stuff."

On if he appreciates Peyton Manning-Tom Brady matchups. "Always. I grew up watching it. I grew up catching it on TV any time I could. Got to live in it a couple times. And then on Sunday, I get a chance to see it again. So it’s definitely always a good matchup with those two guys. You definitely get your money’s worth."

On knowing the Patriots would be fine after some doubted them earlier in the year. "I told you. You all were panicking. I told you they’ll be all right. They’ll be fine. They’ll be in the playoffs. They’ll win the division. No surprise."

On Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski. "He’s 6-7, 200 and who knows what [pounds]. And then he can run like a wild dog, man. Great hands, great catch radius. He’s one of the top tight ends in the league. He knows how to play the game of football and then on top of that, he’s got a great quarterback throwing him the ball."

On what the greeting for him will be like in Foxborough. "Who knows? No idea. That’s probably the last thing I’m worried about."

On if he’s extra amped up for this game. "I don’t know. We’ve got to put an amp meter on me or something. I don’t really judge my ‘ampness’ for the game. But yeah I get pretty excited for every game though. So if I’m a little more juiced for this game, I guess you all will be the judge of that."
