Julian Edelman homers over Green Monster in batting practice at Fenway

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was a guest of the Boston Red Sox prior to the team's game against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night, and he donned a Sox uniform while taking batting practice and fielding ground balls.

On one swing, captured by Ryan Hannable of WEEI.com, Edelman homered over the Green Monster.

"Unbelievable experience," Edelman told reporters, detailing how he has known Red Sox third-base coach Brian Butterfield for years and previously did something similar before a Boston road game in Toronto. "Come out here to Fenway, which is like a dream, how old it is, and get to hit some balls, it's been unbelievable."

Asked how many home runs he hit, Edelman smiled.

"I don't know; I couldn't count," he cracked before adding it might have been "six or seven."

Edelman's appearance came one day after tight end Rob Gronkowski threw out the first pitch with his usual flair.
