FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Patriots coach Bill Belichick was in the middle of an answer during his Friday news conference when he noticed Fox analyst Jimmy Johnson enter the back of the room.
"Coach!" Belichick said with a smile, waving with his right hand.
Johnson acknowledged the greeting, saying he figured he'd catch the last few minutes of the news conference.
"Honored to have you in my presence," Belichick responded.
The connection between the two has been well documented. This Sun Sentinel piece on Johnson notes how Belichick makes a regular trip to the Florida Keys to see him.
"Belichick comes down here every year to fish and talk football," Johnson says in the piece. "Last time, we caught some small dolphin, but he mainly wants to talk football."
Johnson now works as a studio analyst for Fox, and with Sunday's Patriots-Giants game on Fox, he is in town a bit early. He walked through the locker room with Belichick after the news conference.
Video of today's news conference is on Patriots.com (around the 7-8 minute mark as Belichick is answering a question on Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell).
