My Tagoson primed for second Highway bid

Corey Brown's careless riding suspension should not jeopardise My Tagoson's second crack at a Highway Plate with Scone trainer Tod Northam snaring Sydney's premier jockey Hugh Bowman.

Brown, who rode My Tagoson on his Highway Plate debut at Rosehill on July 29, was suspended at Canterbury last week and Bowman's manager Bryan Haskins was quick to call Northam.

"Not a bad substitute," Northam said.

Northam was encouraged by My Tagoson's second to the Bowman-ridden Prada Miss at Rosehill over 1500-metres.

"I was happy with that. The horse that beat him is pretty good. The mile should suit him and Randwick should suit him as well," Northam said.

Northam expects My Tagoson will drop back in the field before he unleashes a trademark burst.

"He has one of the best jockeys on him so he should be able to find a clear passage. If he gets a bit of room in the straight he should be able to finish off strongly," Northam said.

My Tagoson, who will continue to target Highways this preparation, was listed as the $4.60 second favourite with the TAB behind Matt Dunn's Arrestar ($3.30) on Friday.

Dunn is after his 12th Highway win on Saturday while Northam also rated the Brett Cavanough-trained Last Try Wins ($6) as a danger.
