The Revolution announced the signing of defender Otto Loewy to a Major League Soccer contract. A native of Liberia, Loewy is a U.S. permanent resident and will count as a domestic player.
According to the Revs press release, Loewy is expected to join the team following its return from next week’s trip to Vancouver.
Loewy played four seasons at Winthrop University. A leg injury suffered in his final collegiate game in the 2009 NCAA Tournament prevented him from participating in the 2010 MLS Combine.
“Otto performed well during his trial with us in Georgia,” Revolution Vice President of Player Personnel Michael Burns said. “He’s a strong player and will provide added depth along our backline this season.”
