After more than four years, Johnny Damon finally is wearing his 2004 World Series ring again.
Damon, the leader of the Idiots who broke the Red Sox's 86-year championship drought, apparently kept the bling under wraps after signing with the hated Yankees following the 2005 season.
"I started wearing it this past offseason after I knew I wasn't coming back to New York," Damon told the New York Post.
"I was in New York for four years and I couldn't wear it then."
Damon, of course, will have some new jewelry coming his way, but won't be at Yankee Stadium when the Yankees figure to give out their 2009 World Series rings before the home opener. Damon's new team, the Tigers, will be playing in Detroit.
"I can get it mailed to me," Damon said. "I don't want to wait until we go there, because that's not until the middle of August."
So, the Post asked, which ring will Damon wear?
"I am going to wear them both," he said. "There aren't too many guys with rings from each team."
