Demoted Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard reported to Pawtucket on Thursday, sounding none too happy about the assignment in comments to reporters.
“It’s not my decision. I’m just an employee here,” Bard said. “Obviously, I’m not thrilled with it. If it was me making the decision it might have been different. But I tried to be respectful about it. Once I get the anger and disappointment out of the way, you just have to try to make the best out of the situation.”
Bard was sent to Triple-A to try to get back on track after a rough transition from reliever to starter. He had a 5-6 record and a 5.24 ERA in 10 starts (and one relief appearance), the biggest flop coming in Toronto on Sunday. He is scheduled to start for Pawtucket on Friday night.
