Nava scratched, gets cortisone shot in hand

BOSTON -- Daniel Nava seemed vague when discussing his injured left hand, an ailment that forced Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine to scratch his left fielder from the lineup prior to Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Washington Nationals at Fenway Park.

Nava said he did not injure the hand while playing, but he admitted he first felt it before Saturday's game and received a cortisone shot Sunday. He also said he's hoping to be back in the lineup on Monday in Miami.

"If it's good tomorrow, I can go tomorrow," he said.
