Former Red Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis was named the American League Player of the Week on Monday.
Youkilis had 11 hits in 23 at-bats for the White Sox (.478 average) with three home runs, 10 RBIs, seven runs, a .571 on-base percentage and .913 slugging percentage in six games last week. The White Sox went 5-1 during that span.
Since being acquired from the Boston Red Sox on June 24, Youkilis has hit .347 with three home runs and 14 RBIs in 13 games. He had the same number of RBIs in 42 games with the Red Sox this season.
Youkilis last won the award on May 11, 2008.
His replacement in Boston, Will Middlebrooks, did not play over the past week with a hamstring injury.
