Clay Buchholz's 5-0 record in April has earned him American League pitcher of the month honors.
Buchholz, who is now 6-0 after Wednesday night's 10-1 Red Sox win over the Blue Jays, finished April with a 1.19 ERA, 39 strikeouts and 13 walks in 37 2/3 innings pitched over five starts.
The Sox matched the club record with 18 wins in April, and their 18-8 record was the best in the league.
It's Buchholz's second AL pitcher of the month award (his previous one was in August 2010). Others receiving votes included Matt Moore (5-0, 1.13 ERA, 32.0 IP, 38 SO) of the Tampa Bay Rays; Yu Darvish (5-1, 2.33 ERA, 38.2 IP, 58 SO) of the Texas Rangers; and Felix Hernandez (3-2, 1.90 ERA, 42.2 IP, 44 SO, 7 BB) and Tom Wilhelmsen (11 G, 0.75 ERA, 8 SV) of the Seattle Mariners.
