ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz is not in the starting lineup for the second time in a week, but the decision is not health-related, manager John Farrell said.
Farrell said he anticipates the Red Sox will face right-handed starters in six straight games beginning Saturday night against Jerome Williams.
Ortiz has also struggled against Angels starter C.J. Wilson in his career. Ortiz is 2-for-16 against the left-hander, though he ended an 0-for-10 stretch with an RBI double June 8 in a 7-2 victory against the visiting Angels.
Nike Napoli, who played his first five major league seasons with the Angels, will occupy the DH role. Switch-hitter Daniel Nava will make his ninth career start at first base.
