Pedroia elaborated Saturday on his reasons for believing the Red Sox would do well this year, something that he had predicted back in spring training.
"Guys were focused on day one on taking care of the little things," Pedroia said. "It seemed like everybody on our team was motivated to be really good, and it's happened so far."
Pedroia credited much of Boston's success to a selfless attitude shared by his teammates.
"I think our first thing when we're walking in the door is we're focused on winning the ballgame. Nobody's worried about what they're doing personally. They're worried about how they can help the team and impact the game in a positive way. It's one through twenty-five and that's what makes it fun. It seems like every night a different guy is stepping up and getting a huge hit or making a play, and it's been fun."
