With one out and David Ortiz at the plate, Victorino walked onto the field to talk to third-base umpire Brian Knight, which delayed the game. It was unclear whether Victorino was ejected before or after he walked onto the field.
Victorino struck out with the bases loaded to end the sixth inning and Knight called him out on a check swing.
The Red Sox fell into a 5-2 hole in the bottom of the sixth following Victorino’s strikeout, but then pulled to within 5-4 on a two-run homer by Jonny Gomes shortly after Victorino's ejection. The Sox then rallied past the Astros on Stephen Drew's three-run home run in the ninth and won 7-5.
The ejection was the fifth of Victorino’s career and first since Aug. 5, 2011. It was the sixth ejection for the Red Sox this season and fourth in the past month.
