BOSTON -- Red Sox manager John Farrell said that starting pitcher Clay Buchholz will most likely make his third of three scheduled rehab starts either Wednesday or Thursday this week. With the birth of Buchholz’s second child expected this week, Farrell is remaining flexible with the 29-year-old’s next start.
“We don’t feel like anything will be affected one way or the other based on Clay’s start Wednesday or Thursday. There’s been no adjustment to the rotation right now and I think it’s important for us to get through this series and these coming days to figure out where we go when we come out of New York.”
Buchholz is still expected to return to the rotation against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Sept. 10.
