Tracking down ex-Sox in new places

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Good morning from the Fort, where Red Sox players are working out in their home whites. This is Photo Day, when the early part of the morning is devoted to the players posing for pictures in full uniform for the benefit of the club photographers, the trading card companies that have licensed agreements with MLB, and assorted other publications.

For the first time this spring, some Sox players are working out inside JetBlue Park. The outfielders are taking balls off the Wall in left and playing the angles in the center-field triangle. The first games here are scheduled for Thursday, a doubleheader against Northeastern and Boston College, followed by Friday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Twins, also in JetBlue Park.

Here are a few familiar faces (well, maybe not that familiar, but they once belonged to the Red Sox) in places new to them this spring:

Orioles -- Alfredo Aceves, Quintin Berry, Alex Gonzalez (yes, that Alex Gonzalez)

Diamondbacks -- Bronson Arroyo

Cubs -- Ryan Kalish, Mitch Maier, George Kottaras

Reds -- Corky Miller, Argenis Diaz

Indians -- Scott Atchison, David Murphy, David Aardsma

Rockies -- Franklin Morales

Royals -- Brad Penny

Angels -- Brandon Lyon, John McDonald

Brewers -- Lyle Overbay

Athletics -- Nick Punto, Dusty Brown

Rangers -- Jose Contreras

Tigers -- Luis Exposito

Astros -- Matt Albers

Marlins -- Jarrod Saltalamacchia

Mets -- Bartolo Colon

Yankees -- Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Thornton, Andrew Bailey

Phillies -- Marlon Byrd

Rays -- Jerry Sands

Blue Jays -- Tomo Ohka

Nationals -- Manny Delcarmen

Many of these players are non-roster invitees to camp. This is not a list of all former Sox players; it’s the players who are in different big-league camps this season.
