OAKLAND, Calif. -- John Farrell said he hopes to activate outfielder Shane Victorino (right hamstring strain) from the disabled list during the Red Sox's series against the Yankees in New York on June 27-29. He had hoped to have him back while the team was on the West Coast, facing Oakland and Seattle.
Victorino, however, was out of the lineup Sunday for the fourth straight game with Triple-A Pawtucket. He had been re-examined by a doctor and receiving in treatment in Boston earlier in the week but was expected to take batting practice with Pawtucket on Sunday, Farrell said.
"It was a matter of treatment based on the exam and gradually working back into baseball activities with the intent of getting back in the lineup," Farrell said. "Hopefully by tomorrow."
