Gonzalez likely to arrive at Sox camp Wed.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- New Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is flying to Florida on Tuesday and probably will be in camp Wednesday, agent John Boggs said.

Upon his arrival, Gonzalez, who is recovering from offseason surgery on his right shoulder, will be limited in what he can do. He doesn’t expect to be able to swing a bat until around March 1, give or take a few days.

If Gonzalez can get into exhibition games by March 20, Boggs said earlier this winter, then he would most likely be ready to play on Opening Day.

"Every guideline that the doctor has given us we've been able to reach it," Gonzalez said. "The motion, the mobility, all of the things that are incorporated in the healing process have been feeling great. There's still just a tiny bit of stiffness, which is expected, but the strength is there."
