Boychuk still day-to-day

BOSTON -- After the Boston Bruins held a 45-minute practice Sunday morning at TD Garden, coach Claude Julien had no update on defenseman Johnny Boychuk, who has a lower-body injury.

Boychuk was injured in practice last Friday and missed Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He didn't practice Sunday and is still considered day-to-day.

As a result of Boychuk’s status, Matt Bartkowski was called up from Providence on Friday and was in the lineup for Boston’s 3-2 loss to Maple Leafs. He was a minus-2, but finished the game strong.

“It was a rough start and he was on for those goals, but the first one certainly wasn’t his fault,” Julien said. “It came from the other side, and [Dennis] Seidenberg got caught toward the wall. [Bartkowski] was fine. When you look at the game and you look at the stats, 13 shots against, defensively wasn’t an issue. Offensively is where we are lacking some scoring lately.”
