Rask expected to start tonight

BOSTON -- By all indications, Tuukka Rask will start in goal for the Boston Bruins tonight in their home opener against the Washington Capitals at TD Garden.

Rask started the season opener on Oct. 9 in Prague and dropped a 5-2 decision to the Phoenix Coyotes. Since then, fellow netminder Tim Thomas has posted a 3-0 record in the last three games and has played tremendous, allowing only two goals in those starts.

Coach Claude Julien wouldn’t pinpoint Rask as the Bruins’ starter tonight, but Rask was more committal when asked about playing.

“It’s been a while since my last start, so it’ll be great,” Rask said.

The Bruins finally return to home ice after a 3-1 road record to start the 2010-2011 season.

“It’s going to be a great atmosphere out there -- a full house,” Rask said. “It should be great.”
