Bruins prepare for Thrashers

BOSTON -- After two days of intense practice, Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien decided not to conduct a game day skate this morning as the team prepares for tonight’s opponent, the Atlanta Thrashers.

Forward Brad Marchand and defenseman Mark Stuart (fractured finger) were the only Bruins who did skate this morning. Marchand, who suffered an undisclosed injury against the Montreal Canadiens last week, is doubtful to play tonight.

“He just started skating today for the first time and I don’t think he’s 100 percent, so he’s very doubtful,” Julien said.

When the Bruins take the ice against the Thrashers, expect to see a few different line combinations. Julien tweaked his lines during practice. He reunited Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Mark Recchi this week for the first time since the preseason.

“[Seguin] adds speed and skill to that line,” Julien said. “The other two guys work pretty hard, so this is a young guy that we have a lot of confidence in and we’ve kind of brought him along and now we’re giving him a little bit more to bite on. Hopefully he responds well and that’s what it’s all about.”

You’ll also see the Blake Wheeler-David Krejci-Michael Ryder line tonight.

“There is some familiarity with certain guys, so you hope that again brings back some of the good things that it’s had in the past.”
