Bruins assign Kampfer to Providence

The Boston Bruins have assigned defenseman Steven Kampfer to AHL Providence, the team announced Wednesday night.

Kampfer, 22, has 5 goals and 5 assists (10 points) in 38 games with the Bruins this season since being called up on Dec. 8. In 20 games with Providence, the 5-foot-11, 197-pounder had 3 goals and 13 assists (16 points).

A University of Michigan product, Kampfer was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (93rd overall) and was later acquired by the Bruins last March. Kampfer will report to Providence on Thursday.
