VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The famous Green Men who attend every Canucks game in green spandex suits and taunt opposing players when they’re in the penalty box apparently got under the skin of Bruins agitator Brad Marchand when he took a penalty 13:25 into the first period Wednesday. The Green Men told WEEI radio in Boston that Marchand sprayed water on them after they taunted him about a girl he knows in Nashville.

On Friday, Marchand was asked about the incident.

“I think I tried to spray some water in my mouth and I missed a bit. It might of gotten on them,” Marchand said.

Marchand went on to poke fun at the penalty-box pranksters.

“They like to yell through the glass there, but I think they’re just a little embarrassed at how they look so they gotta wear those masks,” Marchand said.

The Green Men apparently are going to make the trip to Boston for the games, but Marchand doesn’t think that’s a good idea. He would, however, love to see what happens to them at TD Garden.

"I’d really like to see it,” Marchand said. “I've heard some crazy stories about the Boston fans. I'd videotape it."
