WILMINGTON, Mass. -- As of noon Wednesday, the Bruins did not have an update on the status of Andrew Ference.
The veteran defenseman was injured in the second period of Tuesday night's game in Ottawa and did not return. Head coach Claude Julien confirmed that the injury occurred in a collision with Senators defenseman Chris Phillips in the corner.
"He got back up and left. So it's a leg injury, kind of groin area. We just don't know the severity of it right now," said Julien.
Ference was seeing doctors Wednesday while a handful of his teammates took the ice for an optional practice and the rest got in an off-ice workout. Julien said there might be an update later in the day.
