The Bruins may lose another defenseman tonight but gain one back. Johnny Boychuk missed the game-day skate at TD Garden with the flu as the Bruins prepared for their tilt with the Columbus Blue Jackets, but Andrew Ference -- who missed the last two games with a lower-body injury -- skated with the team for a second straight day and will be available if Boychuk can't go.
“Right now [Ference] is fine, and unless that changes over the course of the next few hours, we don’t anticipate calling anybody up," head coach Claude Julien told the media. "He felt good this morning, and that was something that we had to look at with Johnny’s situation. Had he not been, we would have probably been more cautious and called somebody up.”
Winger Daniel Paille, who has missed the last three games with a broken nose, is a game-time decision.
