Julien confirms Rask staying in Boston

Bruins coach Claude Julien confirmed to reporters that Tuukka Rask will not be with the team for Tuesday night's game in Toronto after suffering an apparent leg injury Saturday against the Islanders.

General manager Peter Chiarelli is expected to provide a more detailed update on Rask's condition later this afternoon.

The Bruins dressed goalie Michael Hutchinson, who was recalled from Providence, as the backup to Tim Thomas for today's game against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Rask was hurt while making a split save 9:01 into the second period. He immediately fell to the ice in pain, and the game was stopped. He was unable to put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the ice.

Rask had stopped 11 of 12 Islanders shots at that point and left with the score tied 1-1. The Bruins eventually lost 3-2.

Julien also said forward Daniel Paille, who suffered an undisclosed injury in the third period Saturday and did not return, would not play against the Rangers and is day-to-day.
