BC men fall in ACC soccer tourney final

Top-seeded North Carolina ended Boston College’s impressive run in the ACC men’s soccer tournament, beating the Eagles 3-1 in the conference championship game.

Ben Speas scored two goals and assisted on the third for the top-ranked Tar Heels (16-2-2), who have allowed just two goals over a six-game winning streak. The Eagles (14-5) gave North Carolina a run for its money, generating four scoring chances in the second half, but only scoring on one of them. Kyle Bekker netted the only BC goal, knocking a 20-yard direct kick off the right post and into the net with 28:35 remaining.

Both teams are headed to the NCAA tournament. The pairings will be announced Monday.
