At Wednesday's news conference, both Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey emphasized their respect for each other -- as fighters and as people. They both underlined the fact that neither man talks trash about the other, or indeed about any opponent. "It is a good example for the young kids who want to get into boxing," Pacquiao said.
The festive atmosphere of the fight was clear when the boxers posed for photographs after the conference: Clottey's friend and cook, known as "Alligator," was laughing and joking as he jostled with photographers, trying to take a picture. As Pacquiao and Clottey stood at the front of the dais, flanked by Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, they looked at each other and smiled with expressions that seemed to ask, "Can you believe this?"
