Bills release CB Justin Rogers

The Buffalo Bills waived cornerback Justin Rogers on Tuesday, the team announced.

Although Rogers started the first five games of the season, the move was not unexpected. Injuries to Stephon Gilmore and Ron Brooks forced Rogers into the starting lineup and he generally struggled.

Rogers, a seventh-round pick of the Bills in 2011, was inactive for the past six games.

The Bills did not immediately fill the open spot on the 53-man roster.

Meanwhile, the Bills signed cornerback Mario Butler to their practice squad and released cornerback Johnny Adams from the practice squad.
