Bills rank 26th in Google searches

Just how popular are the Buffalo Bills?

One way to answer that question is to use Google searches. In a blog post published Friday for fivethirtyeight.com, an analytics website recently acquired by ESPN, noted statistician Nate Silver compiled Google search figures for each major North American professional sports team.

The Bills ranked 26th among NFL teams. The Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars rounded out the NFL's basement of teams, in terms of Google search volume.

Despite their placement among NFL teams, the Bills still ranked higher than 10 MLB teams, 22 NBA teams and 24 NHL teams, as well as every CFL and MLS team.

Silver noted that the Bills, along with the Cincinnati Reds, have roughly the average search traffic of any team across North America's seven major professional sports leagues. The list also includes Mexico's top professional soccer league, Liga MX.

The Bills rank 63rd in Google searches among all of those seven leagues.

The data includes all global search traffic, so any Google searches for the Bills in Ontario, for example, are represented.
