Andre Reed to serve as Bills coaching intern this summer

The Buffalo Bills will have a familiar face roaming the sidelines this summer.

Former receiver Andre Reed, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last August, will serve as a preseason coaching intern as part of the Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship, Reed's promotional agency announced Tuesday.

Reed, who has served in the same capacity for the Kansas City Chiefs in recent summers, will presumably assist full-time receivers coach Sanjay Lal with tutoring Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin and other Bills receivers. Reed hopes the experience will help him land a full-time coaching job in the NFL.

Each NFL team participates each year in the program, which was launched in 1987. The Bills hired three minority coaching interns for training camp last summer, including former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Chris McAlister.

Reed, 51, played for the Bills from 1985 to 1999 and is the team's all-time career leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
